First Syracuse Regional VEX Robotics Competition

Welcome to the First Syracuse Regional VEX Robotics Competition!

Students, with guidance from their teachers and mentors will aim to build the most innovative robots possible and work together to obtain the most points possible. In addition to just having a great time and building amazing robots, through their participation in the VEX Robotics Competition and their work within their team, students will learn many academic and life skills.

This event is offered to provide CNY students with an opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Utilizing VEX robotics, students work in teams to solve the 2012 VEX challenge - the Gateway!

Teams:

" Senior Division 20-30 HS teams
" Junior Division 10 MS - 20 MS teams
Teams consist of 3 - 10 team members.

Sensory Friendly Time at the MOST

Time: 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Cost: admission

This event is designed for any children with sensory processing difficulties, regardless of diagnosis. If a child has difficulty with the overstimulating sensory environment at the MOST, this is the time for them. In preparation for A Sensory Friendly Time, many exhibits will be adjusted so they are more comfortable for sensory processing difficulties. These adjustments include lowering loud noises, eliminating flashing lights, silencing the air compressors that control some of the exhibits, offering "quiet" areas where participants can sit, relax and regroup.

Anticipatory guidance will be provided when some exhibits will be turned on or off and competing background sounds (often from DVDs playing at various displays) will be held to a minimum. Guides will be available to assist participants in loacting various exhibits as well as address any sensory issues which might arise at the time.

Junior Cafe Scientifique

TACNY's Junior Cafe Scientifique presents Speaker Howard R. Hollander, President of the Technology Alliance of Central New York (TACNY). Hollander will give a presentation entitled: "Engineer Your Life: Careers in Engineering."

A light contintental breakfast is served and Scientifique guests are invited to explore the MOST following the presentation.

All ages are welcome, but talks are generally geared toward middle school students and older. Reservations are requested.425-9068 x2121.
